MISSION STATEMENT
MISSION:
The mission of the Grafton County Department of Corrections is to provide care, custody, and control of pre-trial and sentenced inmates, as directed by the courts, while protecting the due process and constitutional rights of those persons entrusted into our care. Maintaining a secure facility, where the health and safety of staff, inmates, and the public are protected, is essential to our mission.
The Grafton County Department of Corrections will exercise frugal and responsible stewardship of the resources provided by the citizens of Grafton County and work cooperatively as partners with law enforcement agencies, the courts, and other criminal justice system entities, while we endeavor to reduce recidivism by providing meaningful educational and work opportunities to support life change.
VALUES:
Professionalism: We will employ the best practices in corrections facility management, develop staff with quality training, education, and mentorship, and hold ourselves and each other to a high standard of performance as leaders in the criminal justice community.
Integrity: We will maintain high ethical standards in all decisions, be accurate and truthful in all reporting, and never seek personal advantage or gain through the authority entrusted to us by our citizens.
Quality Service: We will work collaboratively with other criminal justice and social services agencies as a reliable partner, be responsive to requests and inquiries from citizens, maintain fair, firm, and consistent supervision of the population of the jail, and be courteous and solution oriented in all interactions.
